Confessions of a Coffee Addict

coffee

For those of you NARPs who don’t know, today is National Coffee Day. Actually, I am one of those NARPs, seeing as how I didn’t know the holiday was upon us to just recently.

Prior to this I was joking with one of my friends that I was going to go “buy another expensive coffee.” But, now, I actually am going to. I mean, come on, its a celebration!

So in honor of this holiday, and the coffee I am about to consume, here are the five ways you know you are a coffee addict.

1. Morning rituals are extremely important to you. Wake up, check 4E and pour some caffeine in your cup. What would your 11am class be like if you weren’t sipping on a latte?!

2. You are actually scared of how addicted you are. The fact that I can’t stop makes me more nervous than all my upcoming midterms. But, not enough to make me end the addiction.

3. Your most intimate relationship is with your Keurig, barista and/or coffee pot. You can depend on them to always be there for you, except when they break suddenly or are too busy with other coffee lovers.

Of course you feel like this when you go and see them

4. You actually feel happier with a coffee cup in your hand. Endorphins make you happy? More like caffeine makes you happy. And happy people don’t kill their husbands.

5. This post has driven you to either make or go buy a cup of coffee. I know, I am awfully convincing. Go enjoy that nice cup of happiness.

Friends: A Retrospective

197679-95ad9206-b3b3-11e3-8ffb-bdc84c71056c

It has officially been over a month since Friends took Netflix by storm. One month, and so much has changed.

Here is the deal: Ten seasons + 236 episodes + 6 friends = The destruction of my social life.

*Note: I haven’t finished the show yet, but I am well on my way.*

While I think that I have lost all connection to the outside world because of this show, I gain some sense of solace in knowing that everyone (well, everyone who has their priorities in check) is going through the same thing. It is an addiction and a real #struggle.

So what have I learned in the last month?

1. Dating within friend groups is an amazing idea, until it really isn’t. But, if you keep going for enough seasons you will achieve a kind of bliss.

2. Always make it clear if you are or are not on a break. You don’t want to start up that fight… again.

3. Jobs aren’t important, you can go a season without a real job and no one will question it.

4. “How you doing?” is the only pickup line you ever need. Even though it will work only like 1/3 of the time.

5. Getting divorced 3 times in 10 seasons is not only allowed, it is encouraged. Despite this, you actually will find love.

6. Smelly cats can provide the inspiration for the best songs. But actually, what are they feeding you?

7. There will always be that extremely annoying person who will actually NEVER GO AWAY. No matter the year, the time, the place or the person, they will find you.

8. Neighbors are forever. But if you stare at them from your window long enough they will move away. TBT ugly naked man.

Have I watched too much Friends? That’s my business. Are you judging me?

See you on Netflix.

House of Cards: Take 3

House of Cards

Due to our proximity to the White House and abundance of “politically inclined” students, it is no wonder that House of Cards is one of the most popular shows on everyone’s Netflix.

If you are an avid reader of 4E, which obviously you all should be, you would know that we are obsessed with Frank Underwood and everything he does. That is why when the newest season’s trailer come out yesterday during the Golden Globes, we could hardly control our #emotions.

First things first, the drama. It is completely and totally unreal. Power stance anyone?

The romance. They are undeniably the most powerful couple in America.

The mentorship possibilities. Claire is a force to be reckoned with. Werk that pantsuit.

The iconic-ness. *Makes the picture the background on her computer*

Check out the trailer now, before you are too behind to be considered a real person. It WILL be the best 45 seconds of your week.

OH, and make sure you don’t miss out on Feb. 27 when this glory finally becomes available on our favorite binge-watching site. Because after all, What Would Frank Underwood Do?
